The Rockmart Development Authority's function is for the purpose of developing and promoting, for the public good and general welfare, various trade, commerce, industry and employment opportunities in the city.

The five members of the Development Authority are appointed by the Mayor and City Council. One for a term of one year, one for a term of two years, one for a term of three years, one for a term of four years and one for a term of five years. 

The Development Authority does not have a set meeting schedule.

The Rockmart Civic Arts Commission has general charge, supervision and control of the care and use of the The Arts Center, which includes the Theatre and Gallery.  This Commission is also in charge of other programs dealing with the Arts.

The seven members of the Arts Commission are approved by the Mayor and City Council. In addition, the City Council appoints a City Council member to serve as an advisory member of the Arts Commission.  The City Clerk serves as the Secretary and Treasurer of the Arts Commission.
 
The Rockmart Civic Arts Commission meets on the fourth Monday of the month at 7:00 pm at the Rockmart Municipal Complex Council Chambers located at 316 North Piedmont Avenue, Rockmart, Georgia.

The Rockmart Planning Commission consists of six members appointed by the Mayor and City Council.  The term of all members is three years each.

The Planning Commission meets in the City Council Chambers at the Rockmart Municipal Complex Administrative Services Building, 316 North Piedmont Avenue, the fourth Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm.
